a new beginning…indeed
On July 23rd 2015 I stopped drinking alcohol, and began living a life beyond my wildest dreams. Perhaps that sounds dramatic, but that's exactly what happened. And in Spring 2020 I will be releasing an album of fully produced self-penned songs about how my life used to be, what happened, and what it's like now.
"A life beyond my wildest dreams" may possibly conjure up images of luxury mansions, fast cars and exotic cruises. But today, a life beyond my wildest dreams - the compulsion for alcohol having been removed so far - is waking up in the morning feeling healthy and looking forward to a full and productive day ahead of me, writing music again, and hopefully with many roads yet to travel.
Cutting out alcohol completely - with more than a little help from others who had already trudged the same road - reopened my life to endless possibilities, and was the most important change in my life. And I sincerely hope that anyone who suffers from, or feels they are developing, similar issues (alcohol or otherwise) will find identification and maybe even some hope in the content of my songs.
And for those not so burdened, why not have a listen over a nice glass of wine; my problem was my problem not yours! I hope you enjoy the songs for what they are: a vigorously honest portrayal of my journey "from misery to happiness" (that's not one of the songs but it might as well have been).
The album includes some "reflective" material because I did mention the album also covered the "what it was like" period, but overall the songs are largely upbeat and I genuinely hope you find them uplifting. The lead track is called 'A New Beginning' not 'Life Was Shit..' so that's probably an indication of what to expect.
I used to be unwaveringly positive until the compulsion to drink stripped much of that away but today I believe sobriety has made me the person I was always supposed to be, and for that - and to the many who have helped me along the way - I will eternally be grateful.
Enjoy!
