RAY DAVIES

Ray Davies was the lead singer of the Kinks throughout a 32-year career which commenced with their #1 hit ‘You Really Got Me’, and has written virtually every Kinks song ever released, as well as having hundreds of Ray Davies solo releases in the ensuing quarter of a century since the Kinks’ last ever show in Oslo, Norway in 1996.

Widely regarded as ‘a genius’ and ‘one of Britain’s most talented songwriters ever’, Ray Davies was awarded the CBE in 2004, received several Ivor Novello awards for best songs, a Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Musical Achievement, performed ‘Waterloo Sunset’ at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony, and was knighted in 2017.

EAN J

Ean has performed at over 3000 show and concerts to over a million people since he became a full time professional musician, vocalist, and entertainer at the age of 20.

An accomplished keyboards and guitar player, whilst still only in his late twenties he was musical director to numerous hit recording artists from the 1960’s including Scotland’s very own Karl Denver (‘Wimoweh’), performed as a ‘Rebel Rouser’ with Cliff Bennett (‘Got To Get You Into My Life’) and was joint lead/harmony guitar vocalist with Glen Dale’s Fortunes (‘You’ve Got Your Troubles’, ‘Storm In A Teacup’).

Ean’s love of the greatest bands of the 1960’s British Explosion such as the Beatles has never left him, but ultimately it was Ray Davies and the Kinks who left their indelible mark on him from the very moment he first heard the classic ‘Waterloo Sunset’.

And today he performs up to 2 hours of all their hits and classics - sometimes interspersed with a few tracks from his own albums to add variety.

THE KINKS

Ray Davies & The Kinks were the third most successful British 60’s band after the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and have sold over 50,000,000 records globally. Today, they still have over 6,500,000 monthly followers on Spotify and Ray Davies’ songs continue to extensively be used in adverts worldwide.

Ray Davies & The Kinks have been quoted as being major influences (and have had songs covered) by recording artists including Oasis, Blur, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, The Jam, Metallica, Jon Bon Jovi, Mumford & Sons, Stranglers, Elvis Costello, Paloma Faith, Jackson Browne, Amy Macdonald, Lucinda Williams, and many more.

TESTIMONIALS

“We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and your entertainment. My husband Grant loves The Kinks from his teenage years and that was the attraction for our night out. Your singing and information about Ray Davies was wonderful, great entertainment in a lovely venue and brought back memories for the 4 of us. Made us feel young again. Thanks for a great night, Ean!” Jessie C (Huntly)

“Nice venue with easy parking, it was very well organised,  with names matched with company and food we ordered, all typed out. You have a great voice and easy engaging style!” Elaine K (Aberdeen)

“I truly enjoyed myself and found the storytelling during the show particularly engaging. I learned so much about Sir Ray, including many details I hadn’t known before. The storyline provided excellent insight, and I really appreciated the depth of the narrative. The setting of the restaurant was great and the atmosphere added to the overall experience. Thank you so much for the amazing evening!” Mairi N (Aberdeen)

“Suzanne and I both enjoyed last night’s event. I enjoyed the info you gave between songs telling the audience about Sir Ray and the background to the songs . I also enjoyed learning about the songs he wrote that were made famous by others as well as listening to his classic hits!” Dave G (Aberdeen)

“Loved the entire evening with seamless entertainment from Ean Jones. An absolute hit! Definitely one to attend again!” Dave M (Aberdeen)

“Thoroughly enjoyable evening, with the audience size allowing for interaction with others attending. Interesting background information  and some great lesser known (to me) compositions by Sir Ray (Sheila D) Aberdeen

“Lovely venue. Ean covered the songs very confidently and they sounded great. He was very enthusiastic as always and encouraged us to sing along which was fun. I learned a lot about Sir Ray!” Suzanne G (Aberdeen).

“I found the overall experience of the Sir Ray and The Kinks Review to be very positive.  There was a relaxed yet organised atmosphere, mixing with like minded people and enjoying a good show.  Ean Jones guides his audience through the Ray Davies and Kinks back catalogue with enthusiasm, style and panache”! Dave R (Aberdeen)

"What a fantastic evening of entertainment! Ean’s Tribute to Sir Ray Davies in Aberdeen really did do what it said on the tin. Packed with great Kinks songs which spanned the generations. . Ean held the audience in the palm of his hand while performing and sharing some enlightening stories behind each song. An evening of entertainment with a splash of captivating education!” Richard T (Aberdeen)

“My partner and I enjoyed the show very much as we both love the Kinks.  The sounds were great and you had obviously put a lot of  hard work into creating a very authentic sound.  Excellent musicianship!” Susie M (Aberdeen)

“Really enjoyed the Sir Ray show on Sunday. Loved hearing the old Kinks songs again, most of which I seemed to remember once you started playing.  Highlight for me was your rendition of ‘I Go to Sleep’.  Beautiful song and it suited your voice perfectly… even though I had no idea it was a Ray Davies song.  Woke up singing it the next morning!” Don C (Aberdeen)

“Thank you for a wonderful evening including the music and the story attached to the songs of Ray Davis. We knew most of the favourites but it was great to hear some of his lesser known (to us) songs. And we really enjoyed your singing!” David T (Aberdeen)

“The show was well put together and choice of music was great. The venue was very pleasant and food was excellent.   Overall it was a very enjoyable evening in a relaxed attractive environment!” Sheila T (Bathgate)

“Ean provided a fun evening. He is talented,  professional and I learnt a lot of information about Ray Davies which I would never have known otherwise, which was cool. The audience were encouraged to participate, which made for a relaxed atmosphere of interaction between Ean and the audience.  The venue was a nice setting too!” Noele R (Aberdee)(

“What a wonderful evening in the sound-alike company of Ray Davies, courtesy of Ean Jones. Back in the 60s and ever since then, I have always regarded The Kinks as prime purveyors of beat music. How wrong I have been! Ean introduced us to several of the lesser-known but ever-so-melodious musical numbers in Ray's repertoire which I enjoyed to such an extent that I have already been researching the likes of Spotify and i-Tunes to include them as new material in my own playlists. Thank you, Ean, for expanding my musical listening and for the anecdotes into the lives of such talented group of guys who go all the way back to my own teenage years!” Scott D (Aberdeen)
